If you feel stressed and at the same time every day at work, you're not alone! For me, it's the usual after lunch slump where I feel that I haven't accomplished enough during the day, and while it’s perfectly reasonable to feel stressed in the afternoon, it still sucks for our focus and productivity levels. Read on to learn how you can boost your mood at work.
Step away from the screen
Work usually involves a lot of time in front of the computer. Be it chasing inbox zero, working a project, doublechecking a spreadsheet. Unfortunately, all that time in front of a screen can be the leading cause of your stress. So make sure to take quick 5-to-10 minute breaks, and refresh your brain.
Listen to Music
Keep a playlist that will instantly lift your spirits in times that you’re feeling too down or too stressed. Whatever it is that you prefer, be it some Led Zepplin, some Biggie, or some Taylor Swift, as long as it helps calm your nerves down and puts a smile on your face then you’ll be okay.
Go for a Walk
My outside walk it the best part of my day. Taking a break to get some exercise with a friend or even alone can take your mind off of whatever it is that's stressing you out. Let yourself be free from thoughts and stress, clear your head and walk!
Avoid caffeine. I have a hard time doing this but, no matter how much you love coffee it can add to stress levels. My favorite alternative is WATER. Yes, water doesn't make stress go away, but it will help you calm down your nerves when you down a glass.
Grab a Snack
When you’re stressed, you can sometimes forget about giving your body the proper nutrition it needs. I forget you eat when I'm having a crazy day but when I'm feeling stressed I take a minute to grab a healthy snack. Low blood sugar can attribute to stress and mood changes, so make sure you eat up and snack wisely.
