Nothing beats the smell of Christmas -those nostalgic scents that remind me of the holiday season and the excitement of my childhood years. Usually i'd just stock up on Christmas candles but this year i'm trying something a little different... a festive simmer pot.
Ever walked into a house that smells of freshly baked bread or biscuits.. those cooking smells are the best right? Well this simmer pot is basically a festive cheat to make your home smell uh-mazing!
1. Firstly pick a selection of your favorite festive smells.. I've gone for cinnamon sticks, oranges, cloves, star anise and vanilla pods for a warming fragrant scent. (I've also thrown in some freshly cut pine trimming from my tree!)
2. Bring a pan of water to the boil and add in your selection. After a few minutes turn the heat down to a gentle simmer and leave on the stove.
3. Check every 30 minutes or so and top up the water as needed to prevent the pan drying out.
(You can play around with recipes yourself, consider other fruits like apples or cranberries or ingredients like ginger or nutmeg.)
This is my new favorite thing to before visitors arrive to make my home smell super warm and inviting!
