Sometimes when life gets going we focus on taking care of others before yourself. Today and hopefully from now on try not to forget about yourself. Take a day out of the week and try to do at least one thing for yourself and by yourself. I will be completely honest when I say that I have been taking part in my own personal self-care Sunday routine for years. Although I never really thought of it as self-care Sunday, it was just kind of something I did. I've gathered up some ideas for your self care day. Let me know what you think below!
I guess this only counts if you actually enjoy baking… which I do… which is why it is on my list.
Baking something yummy is a great mindful activity and a wonderful way to create something delicious for yourself to enjoy for the week ahead. Little changes in your life like this can add up to an overall happier self!
Meditation is something I feel so strongly about as it is a huge part of my life and spiritual practice. Whether you do it regularly or have never tried it before, taking 10 minutes to yourself to sit and be in the present moment is the ultimate self-love activity.
You will walk away feeling relaxed, happy and ready to tackle what ever is ahead,
Read a book
I work in an office, beneath fluorescent lights all day long, staring at a computer screen. This artificial human environment can be rather harsh. If you find yourself in a similar circumstance than perhaps you might feel a little overstimulated.
Unwinding and taking some time to read before the hectic and sometimes mind intrusive week ahead is a great way to mellow out before the steady go, go, go of office life.
Crafting is another great mindful activity. If you are a crafty person then this is a way to practice mindfulness and get those creative energies going. Another bonus is if you have kids you can easily enjoy this self-care activity as a family. Turn on some tunes and browse Pinterest for some great craft ideas, or head to a craft shop and just chill.
For the sake of this post by pampering yourself I don’t mean indulging in “shopping therapy” or some other means of distraction. What I mean is light some candles, run an amazing bath filled with Epsom salts and bubbles and drift away.
Give yourself a facial, paint your nails. Just relax…
